Make that 7 changes of time, 6 changes of gates, 2 changes of terminals, 2 changes of equipment. Now we are sitting in a plane though!!!

Here is a small experience that inspired me about values. As I was boarding the flight to NY last night, I was chatting up the flight attendant who has been with Delta for over 25 years. I asked her about an interesting event she experienced. She talked about how just the previous day, the CEO of Delta was in her flight. She regretted she could not serve him because she takes care of first class and he with his office people were sitting waaaaay back in economy. I called up one of his direct reports who I happened to know professionally and he confirmed that the CEO travels economy in his own airline for business!!!
I recognize there are different styles to succeed but this story somehow spoke to me!

Yesterday I flew from Atlanta to DC. Delta Flight 1125. Seat 2A. Today I fly back from DC to Atlanta. Also Delta. Also Flight 1125 (same number!). How is it that both have the same number? If that was not enough, my seat today is 2A too!! With any luck, it will be the same equipment and I can retrieve the book I left in the seat pouch yesterday. 🙂

Novel flight experience. We went to the tarmac and as we got ready to roll on to the live runway, the pilot announced that they have canceled our flight!! That’s a first time! Back to the gate now! — at I’m on a plane!

Smaller ironies of life: our United Airlines pilot announced on the PA that we will arrive at Gate DELTA 18 🙂 — atWashington-Dulles, Virginia.

Yessss!!! TSA PRE at La Guardia too!!! But no Starbucks? Oh! Come on!!!

Headed to NYC after a looooong time. Unfortunately – just for the dinner. And back super early tomorrow for a breakfast meeting in Atlanta. Not to talk about all those Delta snacks in between 🙂

Another proof that you may be on the road too often – as I check in at the Skyclub today, the lady asked me “where are your friends today”? Few minutes later, went to pick half a glass of wine and the lady at the counter asked me “where are your friends”? 🙂 once again proving that I am flying too much and count too many drunkards as my friends :-)— at Delta Sky Club DCA.

As I walk up to my gate where my outgoing plane was just pulling up, I notice a lady with four kids – one in her arms and three carrying flags and posters saying “Welcome home dad. We missed you”. Going by skin and hair at least two kids are adopted. Patiently they waited as the passengers disembarked till their soldier dad stepped out. He could barely hear them screaming “Daddy” over the very loud clapping we gave him. 
Really enriching moment in life and points to the upside of traveling. Also glad that Delta and TSA allows returning soldiers’ family to come all the way to the gate… — at Dca Airport – Gate 16.

Once more elite treatment from Delta. Last time they took me from the plane to the parking lot. This time, they whisked me from security into the waiting Porsche – straight into the Skyclub. One more time I had to contain my urge to stick my head out as we drove under the planes and go “Whee”… instead I had to have to nonchalance and gravitas befitting a frequent flyer 🙂 — at Delta Sky Club at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
