Friday evening. Means quiet self time with music. A few hours of Nazrulgeeti and playing on the tabla. A particular lyric rendered by Dr. Debipriya Das is stuck in mind – “Ondhokarey esechhilam, Thhaktey aandhar jai chole // Khonik bhalo besechhilam, Chirokaaler nai holey”

FB posts

What is up with this recent spate of all my FB friends posting pictures with cute messages printed on them? Man, I long for those days where they use to post pictures actually taken by them or some witticisms (original or otherwise) that were sent as texts. I think I missed the whole new wave but I wonder if I am the only one getting a barrage of those cute messages in pictures.

Tabla

Two hours of playing the tabla (Indian drums) with Bihu songs. These are songs popular in Assam (northeast India) – usually sung this time of the year (spring). My sister used to excel in this style – 30 years back. Last time I accompanied her on the tabla was 20 years back. How I wish she was here thus evening instead of half a world away….

Tax day

7 mile run at 9 min/mile. Then over ate for lunch. Now for a little wine and sleep in the sun by the pool. Would have been a picture perfect Bengali New Year had it not been for the taxes I have to file and pay today 🙁
