One more tea stop
When the two brothers get together, a cup of tea cannot be too far!!!
Got started with my brother from the airport at the dead of the night towards my parents’ place. (Couple of hours drive).
The roads are very difficult to navigate – no median, no lanes, oncoming headlights straight into your face…Worse all tea stalls open only around 6 π
Suddenly my brother swung off the road and pulled over under a streetlight. And out from his boot came out two cups and a thermos of tea!!

Brush with the TSA…
Interesting incident this morning while leaving Atlanta for San Francisco. At Atlanta airport, I realized that I was not cleared for TSA Pre this morning – so had to go stand in the standard queue which was a little crowded. As I walked up to the TSA agent – nice young lady, “Culp” was the name on her badge – I was going to break the ice by commenting something random like “that is a very unique last name” or whatever. But she took charge immediately, and before even she could read my boarding pass told me “I know you. You travel too much”.
I was caught so off guard that, for once, I was at a complete loss of words. I mumbled something like “Yeah, I know” (instead of what I should have done – “Really? How?”) … all the while trying to figure out whether when TSA tells me “I know you” – is that working in my favor or against me π
As I think about it now, there is no way she could have known me due to my travel. There are too many agents in Atlanta airport, too many gates and too many prototypical Indians every week at the airport for her to know me from seeing me at the airport.
So either we have common friends or there was some incident that made her remember me.
Now, the curiosity is killing me!!!!!
One good run deserves another :-)
Great start to the day accompanying an old friend Mukil in his maiden run. (3K) Here’s wishing him a lot of runs and great health in his future…
Followed by the Bengali run. Today Sharmila joined us too (5K). Amitesh had logistics issues. Also got the royal ditch from Atashi and Malobika π
Starbucks time now!!!!
“But I have promises to keep…
…and miles to go before I sleep” ( Frost)
Last year Madhumolli (my friend from school days – one of the few that just could not stand me – but that is a story for another day π ) excitedly told me that her daughter (a year younger than Natasha) had started running. Even more excitedly, I called her daughter up and before thinking much, promised to run with her within one year.
Managed to grab a train after meetings in London today, haul it to Slough, put in a 3K run with her and turned around immediately to haul back to London. We even managed to get her dad to run with us half the distance!!!
Awesome feeling to keep a promise!! Even more awesome feeling was to keep up with somebody one third my age on the running track.
Sunday night…
Our usual date night place. Somebody is getting married here. Sharmila and I took a guess at the bride’s age. Then we got the bar singer Brandon to befriend the bride’s brother and find out the answer.
Let’s just say, we stand a good chance of getting kicked out of this place by the wedding party π
How often does this happen?
Yesterday, while climbing up Murray Rd from the Falls, I heard somebody yelling my name. Sure enough, Aabhas Chandra – a colleague from long past – a decade in fact – had somehow managed to recognize me in a crowd thru all the changes I have gone thru in that decade!!! Both of us were in a hurry at that moment – so we scooted off at that time after exchanging pleasantries…
And then we got together this morning in the one way I know how to catch up with long lost friends – we ran for half an hour in front of the Niagara Falls and then grabbed a Starbucks!!!
Evidently, the arcs of lives meet more than once!!!
