How time flies!!!

We got to know Kakali and Debashish in Dallas (they were there for a year only). But we bonded well as first time parents figuring out how to put diapers on our own month old babies. There is a hilarious story of how he concluded that girls were better shortly after being on the receiving end of … errr… should we say “point and shoot” mode of his boy while changing his diaper? 🙂

In any case, last night we met again (missed Debashish who is in India) and this time we are trying to make college decisions for the same diaper wielding kids!!

How quickly time flies!!

The good news though is that time has not affected Kakali at all. She was the same energetic, very funny, witty, full throated laughter person we knew from sixteen years back. And with her impeccable culinary prowess intact!!

Sunday evening with a lovely couple

Somya and Sridhar joined us at our Sunday night watering hole. Great time with one of the loveliest couple we know.
As an aside, the Oscars were on the TV. I have not seen much of a movie in almost three decades. So the game was every time I could name somebody on the stage, we would have to drink a round of shots.
Sadly, the bar did not sell a single shot at our table this evening 🙂 The closest I got was calling J Lo, Angelina Jolie. And I say “close” because you know both names had a “j”, “l”, “o”…. 🙂

Outstanding response!!

In response to my poem to publicly shame Nachiketa for not coming out to run with us (errr… I mean eat luchi mangsho with us) – which I might hasten to add was extremely effective since he signed up immediately, my school friend Sibapriya (remember him? I visited him and his parents in Midnapore a couple of months back) posted an outstanding response in the form of another Bengali poem he wrote (written to a different iambic metre). In this he urges Nachiketa NOT to come out and run/eat luchi mangsho etc…

Luchi aar mangsho!
Chalupar ongsho?!
Ei ki go tomader ghata kore
Calorie dhongsho?
Ray,Mukhopadhyay ra ki
Pagoler bongsho?

Seshpate whiskey!
Noy ki ta risky?
Chalupar chalaki
Douroley henchki?
Durethako Nachiketa
Jeonako hethahotha!!!

Well played, Sibapriya, well played!! I bow to superior talent!!
