Is that the moon?

Last night Sharmila and I were in bed watching a sitcom on TV before going off to sleep when I noticed something small and shiny thru the master bedroom windows in the trees. I was trying to figure out whether it was a reflection of a light inside our house that I was seeing on the window or was it moonlight shining on some ice formation on the twigs. I straightened up and asked Sharmila – “Is that the moon”? And then for good measure threw in “Or is that your face”?

You know you have been married for twenty one years by how romantic values cede precedence to practical values. Sharmila looked at my face and the direction in which I was looking and then looking outside, said “What do you mean? How can my face be over there?”

I almost fell off my bed, guffawing! 🙂

(BTW, when teased later, her defense was it was not a full moon :-). Go figure!)

Attempt at a personal record

Tomorrow morning in Milton it is going to be 6 degrees F – with windchill -7 degrees F. ( -22 degrees Celsius). I am going to attempt a 5K run to post my personal coldest run of my career. Previous record was nearly 12 degrees F warmer. (It has to be minimum 5K to qualify). I know this is nothing compared to what my friends in Chicago and New York are going thru. I am glad I am not having to run there!!

They say two layers of clothing in the 30s/40s and then an additional layer for every 10 degrees. By that calculation, I will be wearing five layers of clothes to run tomorrow. I think it will be less of running and more of waddling like penguins with outstretched arms 🙂

Truckload of words!!

Saw this on Durgapur Expressway near Palsit. Somebody must have decided to paint out all the English words he knew on this truck. I get “Quick Service Best Service”. But what is “Go Luck”? Note how under “Fast”, it says “Slow Drive” 🙂
“Only Export” – that has to be a stretch!! The ultimate is the last line “Don’t Sorry Fast” 🙂
Finally, note the Hindi scribbling where the license plate ought to be. I think the license number is painted above “Please”!!!

Evening routine

Every evening last week, my brother, brother in law and myself would go to this one particular store in Kalyani and buy a bottle of red wine. Then around this time, the three siblings and their spouses would sit down and enjoy the wine like in the picture in my sister’s house.
Of course, my brother in law would have one parts wine and ten parts Frooti (a very sweet fruit juice) and my sister would have Frooti with one drop of wine (and then claim she was feeling dizzy).
It was absolute fun every evening to get together – just the six of us – as a routine and chat…
Missing it today…
