Well, I watch no movies whatsoever. But when I showed this shot of the Marriott Marquis hotel I took from the atrium, my friend Mark’s first comment was “Doesn’t this remind you of the scene from Alien”? I truthfully replied in the negative 🙂

What was amazing was that there water drops on both sides of the thin blade of grass. Taken in Macro mode with a DSLR early morning today…

This is one of the most elusive subjects of photography. The bird is too small – maybe a couple of inches – darts along too fast, flaps it’s wings at a rate over 50 times per SECOND and is too scared of human beings coming near it. After taking nearly 80 shots from about 20 yards away, I was able to get three reasonable pictures. This bird, crazily enough, can fly backwards and upside down.

I am sure this is a woodpecker. It was sitting on our tree upside down and pecking at the tree. Beyond that, I have no idea! Can somebody tell me a little more about this bird?
