My first fly fishing class !
After deciding to try my hand at learning the skills of fly fishing (Hal, your idea won!), I quickly realized that I knew nothing of fly fishing. Or fishing for that matter. To give you an idea, I had no idea that you do not use live bait in flyfishing. And that bait is less of a fly and more of a worm.
Took a five and a half hour class from Ken Luoko yesterday. Right now, I can’t even remember all the terminologies and certainly am totally confused about the knots. Not to speak of the fact that my casting is as terrible as you would expect.
But I am excited to get some gear and get into the water. Sharmila is disappointed that it is catch and release and not catch and eat. I do not think she has thought thru who was going to clean and gut the fish even if it were catch and eat.
At least this should be less dangerous than motorbike riding – assuming I do not fall down in the water too many times…
If anybody who is an expert wants to give me some tips or show me around, please feel free to reach out (but be very patient – I think I am a slow learner)
From the bartender’s corner – Bairn
I needed to finish up my Cointreau bottle. There was a little left and it was taking up shelf space. So, was looking for a unique cocktail with it. This is what I came up with after some research – a Bairn. This is blended scotch with cointreau and orange bitters. Predictably very orange forward in the nose. Served in a snifter or a lowball glass.

on perfect paper. Great way to round out a great outdoor day. One thing I miss is monogrammed paper to write these Thank You letters on. Getting good quality fountain pen paper is difficult. Most of the companies that print letterheads for you do not carry such paper 🙁
Relaxing evening by the pool with fountain pen and a writing pad.

Ride out to Lake Allatoona
It has been a long time since I ran a 10 mile run
Thanks to Lia, I was able to finish it out without getting bored or tired. The cooler temperatures helped. Lia kept us on a strict 2 min run, 30 second walk interval routine throughout the run.
Took us 1 hour 54 minutes to finish it out. The left quad was starting to complain but was able to power it thru…
