Cold but the sun is out.

The question is – what is the coldest temperature that I have ridden my bike in. Hit the highway at 70 mph today at 9:30am with temperatures at 38 degrees – the layering and heated gloves held up well. It was a short test ride (15 miles). The inside upper legs were getting cold since they were taking a direct hit from the wind. (I had three layers of pants on).

The heated gloves have really opened up the aperture of temperatures I can ride the motorcycle in. It was high winds and low 40s. Yet, other than the slight discomfort of so many layers making quick movement of the arms and legs difficult and some cold wind still making it thru the helmet gaps, the rides are as enjoyable as spring or fall ones!

There were scores of motorbikes out at Pop’s Coffee Shop

Actually, it was Rakesh who spotted my bike on the road first. He texted me with a picture of my bike asking me if it was indeed bike. That is when I realized that he was sitting with Chirag in the tavern a stone’s throw away from the coffeehouse I was in!

Got myself a pair of heated gloves. Heated not from the motorcycle battery but two rechargeable battery packs in the gloves itself. I should have gone for a size smaller, I think – but I will manage.

The hands were nicely warm and toasty through out the cold ride today.

Next target – to see if I can ride when the temperatures are in the 30s!!

but the sun was up and it promised to hit 50 degrees. Was a good ride with all the layering up! Stopped at Starbucks to refuel.

… and hit the road with Pegasus again!
