Running in the rain :-)
5 miles this morning in midtown Atlanta. The best part was running in the rain! Still trying to make up for all those days that my dad did not let me and my siblings go out in the rain and play 🙂
Of course, it sucked that I forgot my cap! Nevertheless, it was great feeling the raindrops falling on my skin and my shaved head 🙂
It could have been worse :-)
This morning I was running my usual 5 mile run around Georgia Tech area – staying very close to the one route that I know after getting lost last week 🙂 – when a car pulled up ahead of me about 50 yards on this desolate street and a young lady got out and started hysterically yelling towards me. The first thought that went thru my head is that she must be some Georgia Tech student mistaking me for one more of those Indian professors – who undoubtedly flunked her in her last quiz 🙂
The plot really thickened when a very well built young guy got out of the car next 🙂 Just when I was weighing my options of showing a clean pair of heels (thru my bright blue shoes – no less 🙂 – in keeping with the shoes-match-shirt mindset that I am in these days 🙂 ), I realized that it was indeed Rachel and her husband Andy! I have run with Rachel a couple of times in the past and I still remember how fast she ran. She kept up with a conversation the whole 7:45 pace run and I merely grunted “ummm” and “hmmm” throughout! In my defense, I am twice her age 🙂 (The mileage is even more 🙂 🙂 )
It was great running into her this morning after almost four months! Plus I finally got to meet Andy – which she had been threatening to do for quite some time 🙂 🙂 Hope to run with Rachel and Andy soon!
By the way, I completely forgot to ask how she did in her quiz 🙂 🙂
The Old Faithfuls and The Young Faithful :-)
5K run on a cool Sunday morning with the Old Faithfuls and one Young Faithful 🙂 It never ceases to amaze me that given a choice to sleep in on a Sunday morning, Paroma always chooses to get up and run with the three of us. Each of whom is individually more than three times her age!!! Amitesh squeezed in the run after 3 hours of sleep and a run to Pep Boys. So, it was Starbucks time for Samaresh, Paroma and me!! 59 degrees temp. We enjoyed the sun as much as the run!!!
Paul Ryan – the next president??? :-)
Romney at it again!! He introduced his running mate Paul Ryan this morning as the “next President of USA”. Either he plans to die in the run up to the election or outsource his job after winning the election 🙂 Either way, can we push out the election date? I need some more stand up comedy material 🙂 🙂
“Ophidiophobia” !!! One heck of a coincidence!!
Saturday morning 7 mile run in the hills of Milton. So, there I was, running up the hills by myself, minding my own business, bothering nobody, listening to “Says You” where Richard was teaching a new word – Ophidiophobia (which I understand, means, fear of snakes – who knew?) when I look up and sure enough, there was a three feet snake on the road!! Freshly steeped in the knowledge of “Ophidiophobia”, I exhibited no fear whatsoever. But then again, the fact that the poor snake was pulverized head to toe by many cars might have something to do with it too 🙂
What are we fighting for?
Can I have a million dollars? :-)
Any one of you who have been with me to a bar or restaurant probably know that I often respond to the barman / waiter’s usual question of “Can I get you anything else?” with “Yes. A million dollars would help.” It almost always leads to some laughs and breaks the formality. The standard answers are “If I had it, I would not be here” or “If I find it, I will be sure to share” and so on..
This week I was having lunch at J. Alexander in Dunwoody with some execs from LLS and the waitress had a memorable and very witty answer. Moment I responded to her usual question with “Sure. A million dollars please”, she thought for a moment and said “No problem. It will cost you two (million) though”. She had me beat 🙂 Loved it 🙂
