Mount Yonah Winery

Neither Sharmila nor I can claim to be big fans of Georgia wine. So, our expectations were fairly low. We got a glass of red wine each from either end – the most full bodied one and the lightest one. Surprisingly, we enjoyed it. Staring at the impressive Mount Yonah might have something to do with it!

Promised Siva Iyer something

Siva wrote to me that after reading a prior blog post about me completing 100K in July (after a long time), he took upon himself the challenge to walk/trek 100M (miles) in August. Which he did! And wrote me last night to let me know that.

Well, one good deed deserves another. Now, I am inspired to get better. So, my counter promise to Siva is that I will increase 10% on my previous July distance.

September goal is 110K = 69M.

5K (3M)down this morning!

Jasper, Georgia

John and I had lunch in Jasper, GA on our way back from Carters Lake. Old Mulehouse was a fascinating choice for lunch. Great food and a lot of outside sitting. In fact, you will sit right at the intersection of Main St and Church St (the two main roads in Jasper). We saw a lot of interesting traffic from dilapidated trucks to vintage cars – and of course a lot of motorbikes.

The city bills itself as the “First Mountain City” (that is what it said on the main water tank – see the picture). Very cute town.

If you go thru Jasper, GA in future, do not forget to swing by Old Mulehouse for a meal or cocktail and enjoy watching the traffic go by…

Carters Lake

Tucked away in the Blue Ridge mountains (Chatsworth, GA), it is a very quiet and serene lake. I believe there are no private residences on this lake. Fed by the Coosawattee river, this is a man-made lake.

There was virtually no traffic in the lake…
