Math competition
Just dropped Natasha at some High School Math competition. Also known as the Saturday Morning Asian Kids Get Together ๐ The greatest attraction was the grand spectacle of their parents’ parking skills. Every parking was a 19-point attempt – invariably settling down after crossing the white line. ๐ All this, if they decided not to double park, i.e. !!

Running with old friends….
Second run with the WWRR group in two weeks. The last one was after two years. I am nothing if not unpredictable ๐ Ran with good old Bill Smith for 5.5 miles early in the morning. And then joined the group for another 4 miles. It was great to see some of the old friends – Jeremy, Alan after a long time. Also made new friends – Eric, Carol, Claire…. Hope I will not have to wait for another two years for the next group run ๐

They have been partying without me!!!
Five years I have been parking my car at the North Gold parking at Atlanta airport every single week. Have seen a lot of things – but an open wine bottle – pretty costly at that – with almost all the wine still in it – that is a first!!
Evidently, I have been missing all the real tailgate parties ๐
I hope there will be some cheese left in front of my car when I return ๐
And if it was not a party, then what were they thinking? If there is anything more dangerous than drinking and driving, it is drinking and parking. Accidents cause people ๐ ๐

Today is โwacky socksโ day at school for Nikita. I am always delighted by the luxuries of life kids of our generation enjoy. Most of my school life, I had just one pair of socks. I suspect though, after the passage of certain time, they also became wacky :-).
As I came down the stairs this morning, I saw Nikita at the breakfast nook with these socks on. Just to get her charged up a little early in the morning, I loudly said โThey live up to their name alrightโ.
She kept her calm โ except as I passed her, I heard her muttering under her breath โ โThis, from the guy who shaves his headโ ๐

That was a record… of sorts… :-)
All my Bengali friends took a deserved day off since they ran in the 5K Vibha race yesterday. However, over dinner at a friend’s place last night, I met this really nice young Bengali gentleman from Shanghai who is visiting Atlanta and we agreed to run this morning. So, I will still consider it a Sunday morning Bengali Run for the record ๐
We put in a 6.2 mile (10K) run at 8:44 min/mile pace. Dipanjan was kind enough to slow down for me. It was awesome weather (55 degrees).
Today’s records include:
1. First time ever I ran with somebody who lives in China. (Clearly, my running career is “peaking” – ha ha ๐ )
2. Personal record of shortest time between befriending somebody and running with him/her – 13 hours flat (which is faster than I run :- ) and I am so going to get a lecture from Nikita on “stranger danger” today ๐ )
3. First time I ever ran with an adult that does not have a Facebook account ๐
Great start to a Sunday!!
Running…
So here is a puzzle that occurred to me while running yesterday (I know, I know, I need to get a life ๐ ) Two runners start from point A and run at uniform (but different from each other) speeds to a point B exactly a mile apart and run back and keep doing this till they meet at either end (A or B). If their speeds are “m” mins/mile and “n” mins/mile (m not equal to n, and m and n are whole integers), how would you find out after how many minutes will they meet (they stop if they meet at A or B)?
