“The best is yet to come”

During my run today, I was listening to Richard Shure’s “Says you”. There was a quiz question – Whose tombstone says “The best is yet to come”? A panelist’s first guess – which was hilarious – was Charles Darwin. Haha πŸ™‚ It seems the answer is Frank Sinatra!
That got me thinking… Do any of you have an idea of what you want your epitaph to look like? Can you capture in a few words what you would like the world to recognize you have striven for? (to make this religion-agnostic, how do you want the world to remember you as?).
And, to far little import and importance, it would be enlightening for me to know how you would remember me as if I were to die today. To make it worthwhile, you have to make it within a few words. (unless your name is Sharmila in which case, this could be your final chance to register your long list of complaints against me πŸ™‚ )

Speaking of wild goose chase

I bet this has never happened to you. Sharmila asked me to pick up the laundry on my way back. I, of course, dutifully did it. Or rather, attempted to. I showed up at the laundry place and the lady gave me a puzzled look for some time and then blurted out “But your wife already picked up the laundry five days back”!!! So, I just bought some gin and vodka from the shop next door πŸ™‚

It is 61! In Milton! In Jan!!

Some wise man once said “Climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get”. How true!
Two years back, this week in Jan was so cold and so much ice and snow that my car could not even get to the property gate. Before I could clear the last hill, it slipped all the way down off road and stopped between two trees!! Today, it is a balmy spring like 61!! Go figure!
A relative fast 5K run…

9 minutes!

Finally found a great and logical answer to the question – Why do those clocks snooze for 9 minutes? (instead of a more logical 10 minutes or 15 minutes ….). You may have already known it but I did not. Before I tell you what I read, let me ask you – why do you think it is that way?

First Sunday Bengali run of the year

First Sunday morning Bengali run. I was the only one who showed up πŸ™ Well, I have the whole Starbucks to myself now πŸ˜‰
Paid dearly for not packing my barefoot shoes for India. (Ran in my travel sneakers). Lot of pain in left lower calf muscle and a weird pain on my right foot right under where you have the shoelace knot. At around one mile, there was a sudden searing pain. I jumped up in surprise and pain. Could not put my foot down. After a few minutes, ran slowly back taking care to land on the outer edge of the foot. Any of you have had this problem before?

Now the last leg…

Wow! That was a pleasant surprise. Got down at DC and then immigration took all of 2 minutes. Customs was 0 minutes. Delta lady insisted that she will ensure I can catch the earlier flight. There was NO ONE at TSA Pre other than me – even the bored TSA ladies started small talk with me. Reached the terminal and Delta was yelling my name – walked into the earlier flight and they closed the door. And they were holding a first class set for me!! That reduces the thirty four hour trip to thirty two. However, only when I have had that first sip of Starbucks tall extra hot nonfat latte at Atlanta airport, will this trip be officially over for me πŸ™‚

Onto second leg…

In the larger scheme of things, if The Lord intended us to fly, He would have certainly made it easier for us to make connections! πŸ™‚ Made it to the flight to DC from Dubai. Of course, the prospect of sitting in a metal tube for 13 hours with little ability to step out and catch some fresh air makes me wonder if it was worth making the connection to begin with πŸ™‚
