My stash from Lithuania
Lithuania is famous for its bread and honey. It is especially known for its mead – which is an alcohol made from honey. The claim is that this is the oldest alcohol. Apparently, it is mentioned in the Rig Veda – which is a religious scripture in India from 6000 BC.
The part I do not get is this – honey is one of those food that is indestructible. Pure honey will stay as is for a million years. It never breaks down. How the heck do you ferment it then?
Well, I need to do some research.

5K by the river with Arup and Sanjib
At 52 deg F (11 deg C), it was a bit cold
Sunday’s activity on Saturday
Old running buddies
Got together with Arup and Sanjib to celebrate Arup’s maiden marathon (New York Marathon, 2023). Incidentally, in our Bengali group, Sanjib is the one who completed a marathon at the youngest age (44 years) and Arup at the oldest age (52 years).
I still consider running a marathon as a victory of mind over body…

From the bartender’s corner – The Irresistible
Admittedly, I was dripping like I was causing my own monsoon season
This, after finishing my run in the rains. Two property buses stopped to enquire if I needed a lift. I declined, of course. Running in the rains in mid eighties temperature… very few feelings can beat that.
As I finally pulled up to the lobby area, everybody stepped aside lest I got them wet too.
At least, I lived up to my T-shirt. “Wine drinker with a running problem”

To say I ran in torrential rains would be an understatement
The last time I ran in Cancun it was 95 degrees with the merciless sun beating upon me at noon. It was while resting under the shade of a tree that day that I ran into my friend from engineering dorm – Girish!!
This time, I went out for a run in mind blowing rains. Stopped under a tree a couple of times but did not see Girish anywhere…
