Changing your last name…

Last night, one more of those funny conversations ensued with my seven year old Nikita. I asked her if she would change her last name after she got married. Without even thinking, she said No. Curious, I asked, Why? Perhaps, because mommy did not change either? Pat came the reply – “No. I am sure I will land up marrying somebody with a funny name like Johnson Blackberryhead”. That pretty much settled it for me 🙂

NFL teams

Last night, after landing from DC, Tasha, Niki and I were having dinner together and we started naming all the NFL football teams. We started from the West going East – Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, San Diego and were already moving to Denver and Arizona, when Nikita piped up “Does San Diego have a lot of electronics?”. Tasha and I were like – “What? Why? …. Oh!” and then we were on the floor laughing….

Striking a balance

Getting back into the hotel after the run by Potomac, I noticed a bunch of high schoolkids in the lobby (visiting DC). Then I walked into the elevator with another lady who seemed to come from the crowd. What followed was really funny.
Trying to be polite, I apologized for sweating and asked if she is with the kids. “No. I am not that young”. I had a real weird feeling about it. So, I hastened to clarify – “No, no, I meant are you a teacher or chaperone”. She quickly retorted “No. I am not that old either”.
I am like – can I have my original weird feeling back? This is worse 🙂

Monk up the hill

A monk starts his journey from the base of the mountain early morning at 7 am and reaches the monastery at the top of the mountain at 7 pm. He followed the hilly route at a completely variable speed. He sometimes sat down to take rest too. He was fast at times and slow at other times. After giving the necessary message to the head monk, next day, fully rested, he started at 8 am to climb down. Once again, he walked at varying speed including taking rest at times. Since it was downhill though, he reached by 6pm. Can you prove that there was at least one clock time where on either day at the same clock time, he was at the same spot? [note that you do not need to find out when and where – that is indeterminate – just that there had to be a time when on either day at that time he was at the same spot]

15th Woodstock Freedom Run

On July 4th, 2011, I ran the Woodstock Freedom Run. This was my first disciplined attempt after switching over to the minimalist run. I was not sure what to expect. Last time I ran in this race, the route was not full 3.1 miles – it was more like 2.9 mile. This time, the corrected it to cover full 3.1 miles.

Posted one of my fastest run at 7:45 pace (24 min 09 sec).

There were great festivities going on there. The mayor came and started us off from the top of the fire engine ladder which had extended from the road to the top of the main street intersection!!
