Answers to the quiz on rivers of the world

1. The small country of Bangladesh has over 700 rivers! (It is essentially a vast delta at the confluence of the Ganges and the Brahmaputra)

2. Russia with the Ob, the Upper Ob, the Ishim, the Yenisei, the Lower Tunguska, the Lena, the Vilyuy, the Aldan, the Olenyok, the Kolyma and the Amur. Most all of them flow south to north!

3. The Nile. It used to be both the Nile and the Danube with 10 countries each. But after Sudan split into Sudan and South Sudan, now Nile flows thru 11 countries. Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania

4. Saudi Arabia

5. The Yangtze in China. The Huang He (Yellow River) is the second one.

6. The Danube with 4 capitals. Vienna (Austria), Bratislava (Slovakia), Belgrade (Serbia) and Budapest (Hungary).

7. The River Congo. Brazzaville (Republic of Congo) and Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) are on either side of the river directly opposite to each other.

8. The River Ubangi. Bangui (capital of Central African Republic) is on its banks

9. The River Congo (220-230 meters). That will comfortably drown a 75 floor building!

10. The Reprua river in Georgia (actually the semi autonomous zone of Republic of Abkhazia). The river emerges from caves and promptly dumps itself in the Black Sea a mere spitting distance away.

Hope you had fun!
