Baisakhi , I should have explained. We have a Chalupa group – a rag tag team of folks loosely connected by the fact they can speak Bengali. The group’s claim to fame is that they get together every Sunday morning in the brightest colors possible to go put a 5K run together. Followed by – and this is where the Bengaliness comes out – coffee and adda. Once a year, Sharmila and I host a luchi-mangsho party right after the run at our house. The idea is to get together as a team and also see if the wafting smell of luchi and mangsho can attract some more unsuspecting Bengalis to join the group. In this case, Nahicketa, who has run with the group multiple times had not signed up to come for the run and feast for this Sunday. In an attempt to publicly shame him, put together a few Bengali words and tried to give it a look and feel of a poem. While the poetry skills lacked abysmally, the trick worked since Nachiketa signed up for the run immediately πŸ™‚

Generally I do not open FB everyday, so I missed your call for the Luchi-Mangso party. But I got a message in my phone when you mentioned my name yesterday, and then it followed.
