Met Aimee after nearly a decade and a half

Aimee and I worked in 2010 and early 2011 when she left the company we had just acquired. After that, I had kept up with her during our catch up calls every March for her birthday. (Coincidentally, my daughter, she and I have three consecutive birthdays!!).

Over the years, I got to know how she overcame learning challenges as a young child and how she found her calling as an entrepreneur focusing on educational products on similarly challenged kids.

She was in Atlanta for a conference and that gave us an opportunity to catch up over dinner. I think this is the longest I have spent any face to face time with her.

Some great discussions on how to deal with people who think differently and in general, how to survive and excel by being different in a world where people choose to be around similar people.

Had a thought provoking session! And a lot of catch up of our colleagues from yesteryears!!

Docking with a flair

Usually I am the one who steers the boat into the dock and she jumps out to secure the boat with the mooring rope. These days, after tying the rope to the cleat, she is finishing with a crocheting flair. I tried that and quickly learnt one more thing I will not be good at.

Getting a bit better

It is still scary as the board starts rolling to the other side and I am in “free roll”. What is helping is being very gentle and not making any sudden moves. Also, putting the body at lower profile by bending at the knees and keeping them flexible.

Need to check off one more box in my bicycling journey

Got hopelessly lost in the trail!

After riding from home on Alpha Loop, I did my heartbreak hill on Northwinds Parkway and then rolled down Kimball Bridge for half a mile before entering Alpharetta Greenway. This was the first time I took this entry. I thought I turned north and was hoping to come out at Webb Bridge Road from where I would go home straight. After about 20 minutes or so, I started paying attention to my surroundings to look for clues of Webb Bridge approaching. Instead, I popped up on Mansell Road! I had clearly turned south instead of north!!

Ah! well… took a picture in the parking lot, one swig of water and biked back to the Starbucks next to home!
