The inimitable Deos
Rema and Sanjay! The first couple in the US that we were introduced to when we came here. Ever since, they have always been a big part of our lives. In fact, they were the first friends who had seen Natasha after she was born. They had flown to Dallas to see the first baby for either of us.
Sanjay, the busy bee, spent one whole afternoon assembling a barbecue that I had ordered, all by himself as the three of us were scratching our heads on what to do with the small baby.
We try to see them whenever we are in south Florida. I have not seen much of ageing in either of them.
Thirty two years back, this is where we had started our life as a couple
We had gotten married and I immediately flew to the US to join my job. She went back to her college and finished her last month and flew to Fort Lauderdale. This was the apartment – marked 525 – where we finally put our anchors down.
Visited the old apartment complex and the apartment while in Fort Lauderdale area today.
Dinner with our friends from Coral Springs – David and Maida
I had to do a double take on that one
Did I just do that?
It has been about a couple of months that I ditched my watch. I wear my Garmin when I go for a run or other exercises. But that is all.
There is a downside to it. Now I do not know how many steps I have taken or the quality of my sleep.
But it has been a great sense of freedom. I somehow do not keep looking at my watch when I have nothing better to do. And I get a sense of not being tied to something.
Funnily enough, I never would have guessed that I would be traveling to Fiji and Samoa and never wear a watch on me!
This idea was given to me first by colleague at office – Claudine. She never wears a watch and said she never missed it.
All this was very confusing to Sharmila since I am the one who is a stickler for time. (that has not changed, btw)
But nothing confused her more than when I said that I am going to pick up a wrist bracelet made of bike chains for myself from the vintage motorcycle show in Dania Beach! Admittedly, this is totally out of character for me. I do not wear anything other than the wedding ring on me!
Maybe she was wondering why would I want one more thing to “chain” me down? 🙂
