Sunday morning run
Busted
In a duel of lack of strength and sheer determination, lack of strength prevailed today. Got this crazy idea this morning to run a half marathon – after two years.
First ten miles (16K) were tolerable at 9:55 pace. Then I hit a wall. Just could not keep up. Walked and ran the last three miles (5K).
Gotta get back in shape again….
For the time being, hot tub and a couple of Advils, here I come…
A good one from Mark Twain
Bright in the morning
Amazing visibility to the supply chain
In spite of working in the supply chain area for 12 years, I am often pleasantly surprised at some simple things.
Like tracking a FedEx package, I can now see Sharmila’s new car proceeding thru the factory in Japan. This morning it has rolled off the factory and is waiting at the dock to be loaded onto the ship tonite.
It still takes too much time to actually get possession, but when you see that thing move thru the supply chain, somehow the wait does not seem that painful!!
Puzzle for this week
I am certainly a little wary of posting a puzzle today lest all my FB friends start wishing me Happy Birthday or something like that π
As always, send me messages in FB and not in the “Comments” section.
How can you get 5 by using only two 2s (and you can use any mathematical operators, symbols etc as many times as you want).
Can you come up with 2 different ways?

October 30th, revisited
In my previous post I mentioned that Sharmila told me “No” on this day 21 years back. I also mentioned that it took me of few months to turn her around.
At this point, you have to imagine me like the meerkat in that famous Lion King scene when the lioness Nala is trying to attack them and they just realized that she is a friend of their friend and protector Simba.
I am flailing my arms and legs in the air, jumping up and down, yelling “And my Facebook friends think TODAY is my anniversary day?” π
October 30th!!
Exactly twenty one years back, to the day, while taking an evening stroll near Netaji Bhavan in A-Zone, Durgapur, I had asked the girl in this picture if she would marry me.
She, unequivocally, and a tad unceremoniously, told me “No” π
Months of intense negotiations later, I was able to get the deal done! As I recollect, part of the negotiations included me agreeing to buy her a landline phone and a car sometime during our married life!!
I know! Those days, our expectations from life were very simple and decidedly modest. Plus, I always had believed that every contract is re-negotiable π
In a somewhat related story, last week I asked Sharmila about my traits – and she volunteered “stubborn”. How that has worked against me, I still do not understand π
