Busted
In a duel of lack of strength and sheer determination, lack of strength prevailed today. Got this crazy idea this morning to run a half marathon – after two years.
First ten miles (16K) were tolerable at 9:55 pace. Then I hit a wall. Just could not keep up. Walked and ran the last three miles (5K).
Gotta get back in shape again….
For the time being, hot tub and a couple of Advils, here I come…
I like the spontaneity
Me too. But not my legs 🙂
Rajib – Prior to runs, I’ve doing 10-15 minutes of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and have been able to run up to 20 minutes (2.5 miles) more than usual. The exercise expands the lung capacity, works out the whole body & increases overall energy levels. Who needs PED’s? 🙂
It’s ok as long as you don’t go bust
🙂
Way to go………..
Awesome! You did not give up and completed the half-marathon (21K) somehow, I think determination prevailed 🙂
After a long run applying a bit of Bengay also gives some relief.
Surya Namaskar does help, particularly for stretching hamstrings and improving blood circulation before the run.
Good job, Rajib! Here’s to many more half-marathons (I remember you had an awesome timing of 1:53 in your first one)!
You need practice. Dallas marathon coming up. What do you say?
Doh! I did the exact same thing this morning. See graph. I fell apart at the 10 mile mark. Felt surprisingly good until then. I Should have quit and called it a nice 10 miler.
