This is plain wrong!!!

Here I am sitting down at the airport with my flight getting more and more delayed…. First they had no crew. Then they managed to grab one crew member. That started the search for a second crew member. Thirty minutes later we located her too. Then we got one co-pilot twenty minutes later. Now we are just one pilot short of taking off!!! Accessories! Accessories!! Accessories!!!
Every fifteen minutes Delta kept sending me text messages helping me know of a further delay. Their latest one informed me that I can now go ahead and check in to my return flight!
And I am like, a few more helpful text messages from you and I might not have any need for your return flight altogether 🙂

    In my recent trip to USA, I flew United and Frontier. Only one sector was Delta and they screwed it up, first crew not there, change of gates, delayed, cancelled. I had booked long ago and for a US$64 ticket I got back US$ 25 and went by another Delta flight. How can they survive? In future- Delta? No Thanks!

    Was this Delta or one of the connection partners such as ExpressJet, etc.? In that case they have their own crew, systems, etc. Point being… they are very different from core DL

    Manjit, no this is operated by Delta. It is s MD-88 (not a small plane either). Evidently weather problems elsewhere in the country has thrown multiple schedules awry. I noticed all NY flights were delayed too…

    I have always been late with Delta. And then once I was leaving on time and the plane bumped into a truck while taxiing – adding 6 hrs – later a nice Delta man gave me a free ticket to fly to Austin for having to wait 6 hrs in Newark of all places (which also ran late!!) – but what do you care for free tickets Rajibda 😛

    I had similar experience with United – I was flying out afternoon – these messages started coming late morning updates every half hour – man whatever I planned to accomplish that morning was lost – I managed to get evening an evening 7 PM flight to arrive home midnight..!!

    How did they ‘manage’ to get one crew ? I think they took his interview , then typed the offer letter , he received it and then straight into the flight – still on a probation period……

    @Sudipta Lahiri, you are right. in contrast, in US almost all flights run delayed, particularly after mid day. And little help from the airline companies to the stranded passengers. I hope Indian people know it before flying to US.
