The mouth of Chicago River

Not sure whether I should refer it as the mouth. Normally, a river flows into a lake or sea or ocean or have you. As Chicago River also used to empty in Lake Michigan. Till 1900. In a marvel of engineering, the river, ever since, has been made to flow in the reverse way!!

There was a bit of a weird feeling…

… getting on the plane with Sharmila without a passport in my pocket. One of those rare, domestic flights together.

Off to one more of those weddings of a friend’s daughter. I have reached that age, I guess. This one is special though. The aforementioned bride was a colleague in my previous company too! So, technically, I am attending the wedding of somebody who had to suffer through my meetings!

That was a surprise!

Came out of my hotel in Carmel, IN, and was just going to take a stroll on the Monon Trail when I spotted this Indian family. After a while, I realized they weren’t moving at all. Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be statues!! In full Indian regalia! Who would have thought?

That infamous runway rug

This is between Terminal D and E in Atlanta airport. The whole decor is totally new. The one challenge is the rug – which is made to look like a runway and been laid the wrong way. A 28-10 runway should have the 28 facing due West(ish). Here, it has been set the other way.

Does anybody know this?

I was busy enjoying reading my book, sitting on a bench in Marietta Square when I saw this. Does anybody know why the park closing time is so precise and so odd? HAve you seen anything like this before? On a slightly different point, shouldn’t the opening hours be 6:00 instead of 6:01?
