Answers to Geography quiz on land borders
1. Russia and China both have land borders with 14 countries. For Russia though, it includes the bordering Poland and Lithuania off its oblast of Kaliningrad.
2. Surprisingly, the answer is 0!! About 20% of all UN countries are islands with no land borders with another country!
3. After US-Canada border comes Russia-Kazakhastan, Argentina-Chile, China-Mongolia and India-Bangladesh. Russia-China comes sixth.
4. Botswana and Zambia! Interestingly, four countries – Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe all come together within a couple of hundred feet of each other near a particular point!
5. Belgium and Netherlands – 31 different land borders. They have some 30 different enclaves in each other’s territory – all near a particular city!
