From the bartender’s corner – Angel Face on Death’s Door
Angel Face is a fairly old cocktail. Like many cocktails, it originated somewhere during the Prohibition era. Savoy Cocktail Book had documented this drink way back in 1930.
Since I made this with the Death’s Door gin, I came up with that quirky name. This has Gin, Apricot Brandy and Apple Brandy.
Have you tried Death’s Door vodka?
No. I am on a gin kick. I think they started with vodka before they got onto gin, right?
Think so. I like their vodka – so will try their gin next!
Also – try Boodle’s gin if you haven’t already. We really like it. Great in a simple gin + tonic.
I recently read an article on the recent developments in Japanese gin. One is from my home town (Nikka). Would love to hear your take on it.
Michiko, I have never tried Nikka. Do you know where might I get it?
I have tried a Japanese gin – Roku. I liked it. Also made. Few cocktails with it.
Here is the review I had written: http://www.rajibroy.com/?p=15237
It’s new in the US – I think within the last 3-4 months or so. Among other things, it is distilled in Coffey stills like they do with the whiskey. I see several online outlets that have it, but you know how it can get weird trying to get alcohol products into GA. https://www.nikka.com/eng/products/spirits/coffeygin.html
