This is going to be interesting for me…
For visiting purposes, I am not the Europe kind of guy – I am the South or Central America guy. I have never been much into castles, forts, architecture, famous paintings… or for that matter anything else that has to do with long dead people. I love the beaches, mountains, oceans, forests and anything to do with nature. Plus they let you drink your wine more freely there 🙂
But here we are, on our way to Italy – I being completely outvoted by three girls in the house. On the other hand, I hear there are some nice bottles of wine there with my name written on them 🙂
ITALY- NO Complaining Rajib Roy yes they do have great wine and FOOD!!!!!
My problem is that the family is going to want to see all the “touristy” places…
Touristy places have great wine and food too :))
And queues… And long dead people…. 🙂

Go to Sorrento if you can. The limoncello is worth the trip. And the drive to the Amalfi Coast fulfills your need to see beaches and mountains.
There is a lot to learn from past civilizations. Visiting Fibonacci’s tomb in Pisa (not to mention Galileo was also from Pisa) gave chills to a geek like me. But more importantly, it answers foundational questions of the progress of Western civilization. And there are engineering marvels like the colleseum in Rome built 2000 years ago upon which the design of the modern stadiums even today are based. Art, sculpture and wine too. Yes. Of the highest quality. BTW, Italy is the largest wine producer in the world. Your family was absolutely right in insisting … Enjoy.

Apparently not – I was told by a wine expert.
