Walmart trip
With nothing better to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I decided to accompany Sharmila to the Walmart store where she needed to pick up something. Now, I have not been to a Walmart store in ages – so was not sure what to expect. But once there, I quickly commented to her that “Walmart must the #2 place (Niagara Falls being #1) for all the Indian diaspora to congregate on a Sunday afternoon”. π
With an air of authority that can come only with years of experience, she informed me that Walmart is #3. Evidently, Costco is #2 π
I would not be surprised if we find a couple of call centers near the back offices of Walmart (or Costco) outlets one of these days π
I second Sharmila w.r.t. Costco…
I went to the Walmart store here in Durham with a colleague to pick something up, and was amazed to hear conversations in Hindi at the checkout counter. My colleague from Lukhnow was exchanging “mahalla” pleasantries with the Walmart employee at the checkout counter who is also from the same “mahalla”. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hindi/Tamil becomes second language in these stores some day π
Plenty of them walk with two left feet – It’s just not right π
I was there too an hour back.
Telugu is the official language of all the IT folks .. Whether in office or at Costco π Hindi , Tamil all come much later
I didn’t know ceos go to Wal-Mart
You crack me up!
You must be talking abt Alphapuram.
