Whoa! What the heck happened?

This will knock your socks off. I found this on the internet.

Look at the picture on the top. If you do not believe the rest of the puzzle, take a printout on your printer. Now divide the picture horizontally as the line in the middle shows. Look at the top half. Divide it into two parts as the vertical line shows.

Now exchange the position of the two parts on the top. Keep the lower half as is. You get the picture in the bottom portion.

If you do not believe me, carefully check that the bottom half is exactly the same in both pictures and the top right is exactly the same in the top picture as the top left in the bottom picture and vice versa.

So far so good? Count the number of people in the top picture ….15, right?

Now count the number of people in the bottom picture!

Let me repeat the subject line…

Whoa! What the heck happened? 🙂

I am not sure I understand what you are saying Ramesh. In any case, there is No ignoring of anybody in the counting…

I even watched an app animate it slowly enough that I could watch the extra guy come and go and it still troubles me. The best explanation I can read is that the extra person is made up of a little bit of each of the others…maybe it makes better sense if you are using drugs 😀

Al, indeed that is the answer. The whole mass on the top 15 gets distributed to the 14 below. It might seem bewildering at first – for example, you might ask what happened to the extra head then? Well, there was only 14 heads to begin with. Since the head are too big and line often go thru them blurring the issue – try counting the number of noses – there are only 14 (fifth guy from right on top does not have a nose). Or try counting shoes – there are only 28 of them in the top!! This is an amazing trick..

Rajib, I am blaming the 6th guy from the right. In the top picture he actually gets counted as one.. but does not have any representation in the top half. In the bottom picture, he has a head in the top half. So the missing head in the top picture is your 15th person.
