Foggybottom

7 in the morning and DC is totally wrapped in fog. (Cue in your jokes about politicians without a foggiest idea here 🙂 ). This is in Reston area. Wonder how the Foggybottom area is looking like now… 🙂

Dallas meeting

At the risk of assuming people actually want to meet me, let me apologize to all those who I promised to meet next time I am in Dallas. I am coming in for a short meeting and dinner and then head out first thing in the morning. Can’t wait to see good old Dallas though. And you, when we come on vacation in December. — at Ronald Reagan National Airport.

How are you?

Some of you know me for some of the weirdest answers to the simple question “How are you?”. The one that gets most laughter is “Staying alive… Me and John Travolta”. The one that just throws people off undoubtedly is “Compared to what?” Another one that usually lightens up the conversation – “Much better, now that I have seen you / heard your voice” 🙂 Now you know, when asked to describe me in one word, my wife told my friends – “quirky”.

But I am getting tired of the same responses. What are some of the other funny / smart / thought provoking responses you have heard? I need to steal some ideas…

Miles to go

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Ali Brothers

Last night I was listening to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan very late. And then chanced upon these three kids from Patiala on Youtube with amazing talent. They are 11, 13 and 14 years old! And the 11 year old is the uncle of the other two brothers! They will be India’s own Nusrat very soon. You can search for “Patiala Boys” or “Ali Brothers” or even “rebirt Nusrat” (with the spelling mistake) on Youtube. Unbelievable talent and rendition.
